Tell us more about you and your blog

Street Style Philosophy uses personal style as a gateway to every other aspect of being a working mother. My blog has helped me discover my love for helping others succeed. I want to offer inspiration and my own personal stories to connect with other working mothers who are providing for their families while raising children and figuring out what to wear, where to go on vacation, and making sense of everything. If there is one thing I always try to emphasize is that you must be true to yourself and your sense of style. I strive to give my readers style inspiration so that they can apply it to their own lives.

What people don’t realize about blogging is…

To be successful as a blogger, you need to be a writer, photographer, editor, creative director, web developer, graphic designer, social media strategist, and so much more. You have to all of these things well and constantly teach yourself new things. There’s more than meets the eye behind each post!

What are 3 things you wish you knew about blogging before you started?

  1. Create an editorial calendar and stick to it. Post consistently so your readers know when to come back for more great content
  2. Invest in your blog by hiring an excellent web developer and killer photographer
  3. Become an expert by teaching yourself something new about blogging every week, whether it’s photo editing, pitching, managing your social media or anything else that will take your blog to the next level.

What’s been your most memorable moment as a blogger?

Attending a holiday event with one of my favorite brands and getting paid to write about the experience.

What is your guilty pleasure?

I’m not guilty about this but binge watching a great show on Netflix while eating stove-top popcorn

What’s one product you can’t live without?

My Erin Condren Life Planner. It’s the hub of my life.

What’s been your favorite post you’ve worked on?

My favorite post was a recent article I wrote on being bullied in elementary school and how it has affected me to this day. I loved writing it because it felt raw, authentic and cathartic. Sharing this very personal experience allowed me to connect with readers who could relate and share their own stories.

We love our apps, which ones do you swear by for your business?

Planoly! I’m all about planning my content in advance so I can be present and in the moment.

Who do you love to follow on social media?

Blair Eadie from Atlantic-Pacific. She was one of the first bloggers I started following and I love that she has always remained true to herself and her sense of style. Her outfits make me happy.

What’s been your favorite part of being a member of The Blog Societies?

I love the resources that The Blog Societies provides. The sample invoice, revenue expense sheet and checklists have taught me how to treat my blog like a business and stay on top of my finances.
