Hi Rachel! What’s the name of your blog.
Where are you from?
Boston, Massachusetts.
Tell us a little bit more about you and your blog, Hello, Her.
I am a life and style blogger sharing attainable everyday style, a look inside my life living in the city, and tips for living your best life. In addition to blogging, I also have my own marketing business and work with creative entrepreneurs to help them propel their businesses forward in a digital world. I love all things social media, email marketing, and content creation.
Give us your best tip for staying on top of the blog/work/life balance?
Find ways to stay organized! I use Airtable for my content calendar, Asana to keep projects organized, Planoly to schedule out Instagram content and Tailwind to schedule out Pinterest content, and Google Calendar to plan out my days. Using each of these tools helps make sure things don’t fall through the cracks and I stay on top of deadlines.
Fill in the blank. What people don’t realize about blogging is…
There’s more to it than just trying on clothes and posting pretty pictures on Instagram. There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes – planning and executing content ideas, negotiating with brands, back-end admin work (schedule social media, optimizing your website, etc.), finances, and so much more!
What are three things you wish you knew about blogging before you started?
- How important SEO is.
- Ask for help when you need it.
- You don’t have to have fancy gear to create great content.
What skills and qualities do you think are necessary for a successful and professional blogger?
There are so many but having a passion for helping others is at the top of the list! I also think it’s important to have strong writing/communication skills, an interest in learning new things, and a want to push yourself out of your comfort zone.
What has blogging taught you/given you that no other career or job has before?
It has given me the push to try new things, believe in myself, and find ways to elevate my everyday.
What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone just starting out in the blog world?
Just go for it. I’ve heard a lot of people say that the industry is too saturated to be successful but everyone has their own unique selling point. Lean into it, share valuable content with your audience, and don’t give up even when it gets hard.
What does a typical workday for you look like? Whether you’re a full-time blogger or not, we’d love to learn what your schedule looks like and how you manage it all.
In addition to my blog, I also have my own marketing business so my days can get pretty hectic. I usually start my day off by walking the dog, cooking myself breakfast, and getting ready for the day before sitting down at my computer around 9:30 AM. At this point, I usually make a quick to-do list for the day, check emails, and dive into client work. Once I’ve tackled a few tasks, I’ll share whatever blog post went live that day on Instagram Stories, and engage with my audience. The rest of my day is more of the same – tackling client work, getting content ready for the rest of the week, keeping up with industry trends, etc.
What would your dream partnership look like? From the brand, the content, all of it! Dream up your perfect collaboration.
My dream partnership would be to work with fashion, beauty, and travel brands that are committed to supporting women.
What is a current blogging goal you are working on?
My current blogging goal is to double my current blog traffic and bring on more brand collaborations.
What’s your most recent WIN with your blog?
I recently hit 1 million (consistent) impressions on my Pinterest! I’ve been focusing on the platform a lot more of the last year and it’s exciting to see that hard work pay off.
What is one thing in the blogging industry that frustrates you that you wish you could change?
Brands not wanting to pay content creators what they’re worth. There’s a lot that goes into creating blog and social media content!
