Tell us more about you and your blog
I started it after quitting my job as a nonprofit executive, trying to slow down the pace of my life and find simple joys again. Plus I have a Master’s in marketing strategy and wanted to keep my resume up to date while I “work from home” and raise my family!
What people don’t realize about blogging is…
It’s 90 percent marketing. You can create great content, but if nobody KNOWS to read it then you’ve gotten nowhere.
What are 3 things you wish you knew about blogging before you started?
- I wish I had a clue about HTML
- I wish I had done more research on ALL the aspects I’d need to have rudimentary skills into my blog successfully
- Utilizing SEO from day one
What’s been your most memorable moment as a blogger?
Going to blog conferences. Doesn’t matter which one, meeting people in real life that you’ve “known” over the internet is SO fun!
Give us your best tip for maintaining a blog work/life balance
Schedule and routine! Establish your routine early so that you can accomplish all your daily tasks. Schedule your content calendar so you don’t waste time thinking, “I don’t know what to blog about” or “I have no post to go up tomorrow…”
Instagram or Twitter?
What’s been your favorite post you’ve worked on?
This post still is in my top 5 traffic drivers, some two plus years later. The title either makes people mad or entices them in agreement. Also, some of my most bizarre comments come from this post (always fun to read those!)
