Tell us more about you and your blog

I started my blog as a creative outlet. I always knew I wanted a business of my own, and it felt natural for me to run a blog based around curating a beautiful home and lifestyle. My boyfriend and I recently renovated an old Victorian that we completely designed ourselves. I am a professional event planner, and I have a degree in graphic design. It just made sense to share my knowledge and inspiration, especially when I was getting asked for advice so much already!

What people don’t realize about blogging is…

There is still a stigma around blogging that it is merely a way to get attention. What people don’t realize is that it can develop into a business and create so many amazing relationships.

What are 3 things you wish you knew about blogging before you started?

  1. Write in a way that will help others. I find the blog posts that do the best are the ones where people can learn something from them.
  2. Have patience. It will grow but it takes consistency and time. Especially in today’s saturated space… but it is all doable.
  3. Don’t believe the hype. So many people on social media are actually not what they portray. Comparing yourself to them can be deadly to your confidence and your brand.

What’s been your most memorable moment as a blogger?

Getting my first paid blog post, what blogger doesn’t say that?! I also think it’s really funny when my boyfriend runs into people and they say they recognize him from my blog or social media channels!!

Who’s the most interesting person you’ve ever met?

I met Kendra Scott one time and seriously couldn’t get over her poise, drive, and creativity. She’s really built an incredible brand all while being a mom, running a household, and keeping a smile on her face. I was in awe of her.

Second Life Podcast is my favorite. I love hearing the stories of women who pivoted in their careers to do something they really love. I can relate.

What’s been your favorite post you’ve worked on?

My keys to hosting football Sundays and our wet bar reveal was my favorite. It was my first blog post in our new house. It really showed off our home, what I can do as a designer, and made people want to keep revisiting my blog!

We love our apps, which ones do you swear by for your business?
