Meet Style Among Friends

style among friends bloggers

Hey, what’s your blog name?

We’re Megan and Christa and we write the blog, Style Among Friends.

Where do you live?

We’re both based in Reston, Virginia

Tell us more about you and your blog?

When we find something good, we love to share it because #friendssharethegoodstuff! At Style Among Friends, you’ll find outfit inspiration for mid-size women, binge worthy shows, quick recipes, organizing hacks, home decor, gift guides, beauty must-haves and so much more. We only share what we buy, love and use, so you know it’s REALLY good.

We write a weekly blog post, filled with all sorts of fun finds and honest reviews. Our subscribers receive the post through our newsletter every Friday. We also consistently share our content on social media (Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest).

We create and write everything we share, and all opinions expressed are 100% our own. We fully disclose affiliate links and sponsorships.

How long have you been blogging for?

Just over a year!

What people don’t realize about blogging is…

Blogging is as much technical as it is sharing what you love.

Give us your best tip for maintaining a blog work/life balance?

Lists! Create a spreadsheet for the year to plan your content.

What are 3 things you wish you knew about blogging before you started?

  1. Need to learn a graphics program
  2. Everything takes time, especially building your followers
  3. You’ll always be surprised by what people like!

We love a good plugin, what’s your favorite one and how has it helped your business?

RafflePress Pro – makes having contests and connecting with followers so much easier!

What skills and qualities do you think are necessary for a successful and professional influencer?

Someone interested in trends and finding new things. You have to be creative with lots of ideas. And having a friend to blog with helps!

What has blogging taught you that no other career or job has before?

Flexibility to work on our own schedule, as much or as little as we want. We get to share what we like and don’t have to share what we don’t like.

If there’s one piece of advice you would give to someone just starting out, what would it be?

Be patient! There is a learning curve for the technical side and it takes time to find your people. (Also, upgrade your phone!)

Give us the inside scoop, is there an app or tool that you swear by?

Adobe Creative Cloud for graphics and Later for social media scheduling.

Let’s daydream. What would your ultimate DREAM partnership look like?

Hello, Nordstrom! We’d love for them to contact us to pick our favorite ten pieces (each!) and style them in a capsule wardrobe (and of course we get to keep them). If Nordstrom isn’t available, it’d be fun to have a brand reach out to have us collaborate on a product, like a purse design or some dresses.

We love to speak our goals into existence. What’s a current goal you’re working on?

Increase followers and subscribers. And, we would like to have the blog generate some money.

Celebrating the wins, even if they’re little ones, is important. What’s your most recent win with your blog?

Increased our IG followers by 35%.

How has your content evolved since you first started out? What would we see if we went back into the archives?

We’ve settled into a routine that we think works for our audience. We scaled back to once a week in a newsletter style post and get a lot of positive feedback about all the random topics we touch on.

What’s been your most favorite blogging memory to date?

Together we walk EVERY week and plan our blog posts together.
