Tell us more about you and your blog

I have a degree in fashion design and owned my own company before becoming a mom. Once my son was born, I stopped designing and lost something in myself. I struggled in an abusive marriage and in early 2017 I gained the courage to leave. As a distraction, the release of creativity, and stepping out of my comfort zone, my blog was born! It’s been a real confidence builder and has allowed me to share with other women and meet new friends.

What people don’t realize about blogging is…

The time involved! I spend countless hours prepping for shoots, content, engaging on social media, and reaching out to brands. It’s easily a full time job!

What are 3 things you wish you knew about blogging before you started?

  1. Ways to reach out to brands
  2. SEO and tech type things,
  3. The different start-up costs like domain, themes and branding.

Give us your best tip for maintaining a blog work/life balance

Get a good planner! I try to schedule and plan out my posts way ahead of time so I’m not scrambling to put it together. I’ve also learned to set aside certain times of the day to really focus on my blog and other times to put away my phone and focus on the present.

I showed in New York Fashion Week at the Lincoln Center right after I graduated college and won a large grant to officially launch my line. It was so cool to see things I made go down the runway!

What’s been your favorite post you’ve worked on?

I’m constantly asked about my hair so I put together a guide about all my favorite products, weekly routine, and even did a video on how I curl it. I was so nervous to do a video but reminded myself that my blog was to help me step out of my comfort zone. It took a few tries but I finally got it filmed and posted!
