Chenee of Chenee Today Introduction

Hi Chenée! What’s the name of your blog.

Chenée Today.

Where are you from?

Chicago, Illinois.

Tell us a little bit more about you and your blog, Chenée Today.

I’m a recipe blogger, attorney, and art studio manager based in Chicago! I share mostly baking recipes on Chenée Today, with a few savory recipes thrown in and some of my favorite DIY projects as well. I focus on getting impressive results in the kitchen using simple techniques and accessible ingredients, and I want to inspire new bakers and cooks to try new recipes and broaden their kitchen confidence!

Give us your best tip to staying on top of the blog/work/life balance?

Still figuring that out, but making lists has been super helpful for me. I use my notes app to write down everything I think of to do for my blog so that I can tackle it methodically rather than being overwhelmed with everything all at once.

Fill in the blank. What people don’t realize about blogging is….

It can really be a rewarding career!

What are three things you wish you knew about blogging before you started?

1. It’s a lot of work and will require a major time commitment; 2. It’s a good idea to research every aspect of blogging from as many impartial sources as you can; 3. Community and collaboration are so important!

What skills and qualities do you think are necessary for a successful and professional blogger?

Conscientious work ethic, creativity, and perseverance.

What has blogging taught you/given you that no other career or job has before?

It’s given me a true feeling of ownership over what I’ve created so far and what I’m capable of. Even being such a new blogger with a very limited audience at the moment, I’ve never felt so empowered before. I’m nowhere near where I want to be with my blog, but I can picture how I’m going to get there, and that’s a great feeling.

What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone just starting out in the blog world?

Learn and research everything you can, and make connections with other bloggers right away; they’re your best resource.

What makes your blog different from others?

I offer a uniquely relatable approach to baking, ranging from family-friendly treats to elegant desserts, keeping them all easy and simple.

What topic do you most enjoy writing about?

Food!

What does a typical work day for you look like? Whether you’re a full time blogger or not, we’d love to learn what your schedule looks like and how you manage it all.

I usually work on my blog in the evening after my day job work is complete, except on days when I’m baking or shooting/filming a recipe. I check in with social media, work on Pinterest for a bit, and right now I’m in the process of updating older blog posts so that’s an ongoing task.

What would your dream partnership look like? From the brand, the content, all of it! Dream up your perfect collaboration.

I would love a collaboration with KitchenAid– my stand mixer is what inspired my journey toward food blogging, and it’s a huge part of my experience thus far.

What’s your most recent WIN with your blog?

I met my Pinterest, Facebook, and Instagram engagement goals!

What is one thing in the blogging industry that frustrates you that you wish you could change?

I may be biased, but it’s very tough for new bloggers — there are a lot of resources out there, but for bloggers that are SUPER new like me it can still be difficult to absorb everything when it’s coming from very seasoned, full-time bloggers.

How has your content changed since you first started blogging?

I’ve gradually been improving my photos, and I’ve learned much more about SEO.

What’s your favorite blogging memory or highlight?

My favorite highlight was when I had my first Pinterest comment from someone who had tried a recipe and posted an image of their result! It’s a small thing but it meant a lot!
