Carol of Weekly Wine Notes

Hi Carol! What’s the name of your blog.

Weekly Wine Notes.

Where are you from?

Atlanta, Georgia.

Tell us a little bit more about you and your blog, Weekly Wine Notes.

I’m a Banker/CPA by day, with an obsessive-compulsive wine education hobby, earning several wine certifications. I love telling the stories of the farmers and vineyards behind each wine. I also love how wine brings together great people and conversation. Now more than ever, we need to come together and celebrate life.

Give us your best tip for staying on top of the blog/work/life balance?

I haven’t figured that out yet! I use Later to help me schedule Instagram posts. My .com site takes longer for me to write as it’s for those wanting more in-depth wine information. Looking for tips from anyone!

Fill in the blank. What people don’t realize about blogging is…

How long it takes to shorten posts!

What are three things you wish you knew about blogging before you started?

1) The importance of identifying your target audience and objective and not drift 2) The need to be very succinct for the short attention spans of your audience 3) Consistency in messaging

What skills and qualities do you think are necessary for a successful and professional blogger?

Creativity, good research, good writing, and great editing. Nothing is more annoying than bad information and grammar/spelling errors.

What has blogging taught you/given you that no other career or job has before?

I’ve built a huge network of people who love wine as much as I do. This network is all about celebrating life with wine.

What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone just starting out in the blog world?

With the overload of information out there, what value are you offering for someone to want to stop and read your blog?

What does a typical workday for you look like? Whether you’re a full-time blogger or not, we’d love to learn what your schedule looks like and how you manage it all.

I research and write on weekends mostly, using the Later app to schedule posts through the week.

How has your content changed since you first started blogging?

I’ve learned to stay more focused on my target audience and be more succinct in my messaging.

What would your dream partnership look like? From the brand, the content, all of it! Dream up your perfect collaboration.

I would love to partner with winery owners who have a great story. This includes history, a sense of place, organic/sustainability practices, and reasonable prices. These are all characteristics that my readers are looking for.

What is a current blogging goal you are working on?

More followers, grown organically.
