Behind The Blog With Touch of Sparkle

What’s the name of your blog?

Touch of Sparkle

Where do you live?

Atlanta, Georgia

Tell us how did you start your blog and what did it take to get to where it is today?

My blog started as a way to share my life events with family and friends that don’t live near me. My love for fashion changed my blog a few years ago and made Touch of Sparkle what it is today.

Take us behind the blog, what does a typical work day look like?

My days are very long! I typically get to work at 6:30 a.m., which is two hours before my shift starts. I will use this time to work on anything blog or Instagram related. My normal job is 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. where I handle weather and catastrophe homeowners claims for a major insurance company. After I get off at 5, I will then get my workout in and I am typically home around 7:00 p.m. I don’t have a lot of work/life balance, but if it is important to you, you have to find time in your day!

What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone just starting out in the blog world?

The one piece of advice I would give someone starting out in the blogging world would be to just keep moving forward. There will be several challenges, you will feel like quitting, but just keep moving forward and you will see growth!

What’s been your most favorite project or post you’ve worked on for your blog?

My favorite project, so far, is my collaboration with Grayson! I met Grayson at the Blog Societies Conference and I immediately fell in love with their button-up shirts. After the conference, we continued talking and came up with a great blog post idea about styling their summer shirts as we transition into fall. Grayson is a great company to work with, so I love the posts I get to do with them!

Has your blog helped you in other ways with your career or day to day life?

As I mentioned above, I handle weather/catastrophe homeowners claims for a major insurance company. This job is very high stress and sometimes can challenge your mental and physical exhaustion. Blogging has re-opened my creative side, so I have somewhere to channel all of the stress.

Blogger or Influencer? What do you consider yourself and why?

I always felt more like a blogger than an influencer, mainly because I blog. It hasn’t been until recently where I can see what I post influences some of my friends and followers. After a few times of someone asking for a link, or telling me they bought something that I shared, then I started feeling like an influencer.

We love a cocktail! If you were stranded on a deserted island what would be the one cocktail you’d take with you.

It will always be a good bottle of champagne! I don’t need any orange juice or anything else to go in it, just a good bottle of champagne!
