Behind the Blog with A Latte Love

What’s the name of your blog?

A Latte Love.

Where do you live?

Madison, Wisconsin.

Tell us how you started your blog, A Latte Love, and what did it take to get to where it is today?

People have always asked me where I’m going, where I’m eating, and how I found something, so I decided it was time to put a full effort into a place where people can see my favorite things and hopefully love them too. A Latte Love became my creative space to express myself and I’m so happy I took the plunge to do it!

What’s been the hardest business lesson you’ve learned from blogging?

Not everyone wants or cares to see you succeed and not everyone will want to work with you. It’s still a hard lesson to learn, but I’m taking a grain of salt now with the negatives and rejection that comes with blogging.

What does a typical work day for you look like?

A typical day in my life is going to work at Veterans Hospital where I am a radiologic technologist (aka I take x-rays). Blogging is a side hobby/ job that I do in my free time or days off. I wouldn’t say I manage it all fully.. I’ve missed many weeks where I want to do a post simply because life happens or work was extra difficult that week. I do try to make it happen as often as possible.

What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone just starting out in the blog world?

Don’t focus on the likes or the followers, but focus on the people who are always coming back. Engage with others, ask questions, make relationships. The likes and follows will hopefully come and they are not everything despite how it feels sometimes.

What do you think the blogging industry will look like in 5 years?

I think it will be very similar, if not more saturated than it is already.

What’s been your favorite project, or post you’ve worked on?

I think my favorite post so far was my New York blog post! Travel guides are my favorite thing to post about, my followers really get a lot of of it and this one I was fully blogging for at the time compared to my others. So I had the most content and in depth knowledge. I’m excited for my Banff post that is soon to come!

How do you stay inspired? And where do you find inspiration?

It’s not always easy, but I’m just always trying to narrow down what is pulling my interest at the moment and then try to make that into a post. Either a recipe, favorite retailer at the time, or vacation and then go from there. The changing of seasons helps too to keep my inspired for new content.

How has blogging helped you in your day to day life?

So far my blog hasn’t affected my 9-5 simply because they are so different and my job doesn’t really coordinate with my blog, which is exactly why I started it. I’m hoping one day to change career paths and use my blogging as a tool to do so.

Do you consider yourself a blogger or influencer?

I would consider myself both. I don’t really love the term “influencer” it always resonates very negative or superficial; however, how I look at it, is as someone who inspires others to try something new from what they’ve seen on social media or the internet. This is something I’ve seen people do from following me. I’m still surprised when someone buys something I recommend or tries a recipe that I have made and shared.

Which social media platform do you wish you knew more about or spent more time on?

None honestly. Instagram is where I consider I do business and Facebook is more personal and I like it that way. Juggling too many platforms on top of what I do sounds too messy and would take up even more of my little free time or me time.

If you were stranded on a deserted island, what’s the one cocktail you would bring with you to enjoy for the rest of time?

Vodka tonic with 2 limes!

What’s your favorite blogging hack or trick?

Hashtags. Boy can those really make or break a post some days.
