Ashleigh of The Everyday Brunette

Ashleigh from The Everyday Brunette Introduction

Hi Ashleigh! What’s the name of your blog.

The Everyday Brunette.

Where are you from?

Savannah, Georgia.

Tell us a little bit more about you and your blog, The Everyday Brunette.

My blog has changed so much over the years, but I think I’ve finally found my niche. I am a rustic travel blogger in that I really love to blog about places that are out of the way and cozy.

Give us your best tip to staying on top of the blog/work/life balance?

Your blog has to be something that you truly desire to be a part of. It has to captivate you. I work in a law firm during the week and my blog is my escape. I love being able to craft a post that will be beneficial to others. I also love the creative process of taking and editing my photos. I think you can easily manage the balance if your blog is something that truly inspires you to keep writing. To do this, it must be composed of things that you truly enjoy.

Fill in the blank. What people don’t realize about blogging is….

It takes a lot of time and work.

What are three things you wish you knew about blogging before you started?

  1. That you should pick the topic you love, not the one you think will set you up in the industry
  2. That it will be a long process, not an overnight success
  3. That you can change it multiple times and start over if you need to.

What’s your favorite WordPress plugin and how has it helped your business?

Yoast SEO; I really like that I can optimize my posts.

What skills and qualities do you think are necessary for a successful and professional blogger?

Patience. Just knowing that it will be a long process. And to be comfortable in your own skin; to not be afraid to be yourself.

What has blogging taught you/given you that no other career or job has before?

Truly, kind co-workers. The other bloggers I have connected and engaged with are so encouraging.

What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone just starting out in the blog world?

Take your time and enjoy the process. Just write. Be creative. Don’t hold back.

What does a typical work day for you look like? Whether you’re a full time blogger or not, we’d love to learn what your schedule looks like and how you manage it all.

I work from 8-5 Monday thru Friday at a law firm. After hours, I’ll come home and work on Instagram or photo editing and try to get my post published by the end of the week.

What would your dream partnership look like? From the brand, the content, all of it! Dream up your perfect collaboration.

From the moment of seeing it in film, I knew I had to stay at the Chalet Hoel Schonegg, Zermatt, Switzerland. The views are absolutely spectacular. It would be a dream to get to collaborate with them and share my experience with my readers.

What’s your most recent WIN with your blog?

I am going to collaborate with two Airbnbs!

What is one thing in the blogging industry that frustrates you that you wish you could change?

Taxes. I wish they were already taken out when you’re paid like a 9-5.

How has your content changed since you first started blogging?

I have realized that quality over quantity is so important.

What’s your favorite blogging memory or highlight?

Attending TBSCon in 2019. It was so thrilling to meet so many other bloggers and to connect with so many brands.
